일정 연수 받으러 갔을 때, 회화 수업 시간에 했던 활동을 다음에 수업 시간에 해봐야지 하고 그 회화수업 강사에게서 받아준 자료입니다. 인터넷에 비슷한 자료가 있을텐데, 그냥 검색은 해보지 않고 올립니다.

그당시 초점을 맞췄던 건, - 창의적인 프레젠테이션을 할 것- 시제표현에서 실수를 하지 않도록 할 것 이었습니다.
수준 : 고등학생 정도는 되어야 가능할 것 같지만, 주어진 자료를 적절히 가공하고, 수업 방식을 수정한다면, 중학생들과도 재미있게 할 수 있을 것 같습니다.
걱정되는 점 : 아무래도 '살인'이라는 단어가 들어가서 이거이거 윤리적으로 문제 있는 거 아닐까 생각할 수도 있습니다. 수업 제목에 Murder를 넣지 않고, '첩보영화의 한장면 만들기'정도로 하고, 내용 설명을 덧붙이는 게 좋지 않을까 생각이 듭니다.
아래에서는 일단, 일정연수 당시 수업했던 방식을 그대로 기술하겠습니다.

How to Commit the Perfect Murder

The students are going to work in groups to discuss and then write the story of the perfect murder of their teacher!

·      The teacher will tell some background information of their everyday schedule or schedule of one day. Remind students to take notes during this time.
·      Students are in small groups (3/4) and discuss their ideas and settle on a final idea of how to commit the perfect murder of their teacher.
·      Students write up their story.
·      Each group reads their story and the class decide whose murder is best.

Teacher talk
This time is for conversation. But I don’t know what you’ve been doing during this conversation class, so I’ll do what I want to do. : ) Today, you should think about how you can kill me, your lovely teacher. : ) In groups of 5 or 6, after listening to my everyday life, you should make a plan to kill me secretly. And when you present your plan, other students in other groups will judge your plan.
Background
Everyday my alarm clock rings at 7am, but I usually have a lie-in until 7:15. I get out of bed and go straight to the shower. This makes me feel more awake. After showering and dressing, I eat breakfast and take my daily vitamins. I usually have toast, cereal and orange juice, followed by 2 vitamins, one large yellow one and one small purple one. I leave the house at 7.45am and walk 10 minutes to work. My work starts at 8:00am. I always have a coffee with my colleagues Jerry and Jon in the office, before starting work. Jon is never late but every now and again Jerry misses the bus and has to wait for the next one. I work in my office all day and I even eat my lunch at my desk. I order a sandwich from the sandwich shop near my office. I finish work at 7.00pm and walk home. I arrive home at about 7.15pm. I cook dinner for myself or if my wife is home, we cook together. In the evenings, I’ll watch TV, read a book, surf the Internet or chat to a friend on the phone.  Every Friday I go to the pub with my friends. My local bar is just ten minutes from home, so I usually walk.  I’m usually home by 11pm, because I need lots of sleep! The stylistic focus.

수업과정을 살펴보면,
1. 교사는 이번 활동이 말하기 활동에 초점을 맞춘 것임을 알려준다.
2. 학생들은 어떻게 '스파이'인 교사를 완벽하게 살인할 수 있을지에 대해서 생각해 보고, 그룹원 모두가 역할을 나눠 그 방식을 발표하여야 한다.
3. 교사가 Background 를 읽어주기 전에, 다양한 '살인'방식에 대한 brainstorming을 한다.
4. Background를 읽어준다.
5. 주어진 시간이 지난 후, 학생들이 발표
6. 상호평가


좋았던 점
- 아, 얄미운 누군가를 없애는 상상이라니
- 선생님들이라 그런지 '발표'란 말에 모두 잘하려고 '혈안', 그래서 부담스럽긴 했지만, 재미있기도
- 회화선생님이 '시제'에서 실수하지 말라고 했는 데, 의외의 모든 사람이 같은 시제를 사용해서 이야기하는 게 재미있었달까..

안좋은 점
- 위와 같은 방식으로는 '꽤나 우수한' 학습자만 가능한 수업이다
- 아무래도 '살인'은 좀 마음에 걸리긴 한다


어떻게 좀 바꾸면 될까?
- 학생들의 활동은 좀 control 해주면 좋겠다.

필수적인 단어나 표현은 칠판이나 화면을 통해 제시해준다
사용할 수 있는 시제 표현은 정리해서 제시해준다
학생들이 프레젠테이션 할 수 있는 다양한 방식도 소개한다 (연극처럼, 혹은 한문장씩 번갈아가며 등등 - 이 부분은 어쩌면, 제시함으로써 학생들의 창의성을 저해할 수도 있겠죠)
읽어주는 Background 부분을 필요에 따라서는 좀 더 단순화 시킨다

- 살인이 아니라, 사람에게 이로움을 줄 수 있는 주제에 대해서 위와 비슷한 방식으로 Background 를 만들 수 있으면 좋겠습니다. (예를 들면, 지금 당장 생각나는 건, 하루 만에 백명의 사람의 웃음소리를 녹음할 수 있는 방법, 100만원으로 1000명의 사람을 '몰래' 행복하게 해줄 수 있는 방법 등)
